Hermès Interview Menswear Spring/Summer 2016 - Paris

A summery, graphic and poetic collection at Hermès.It’s a summery, graphic and poetic collection, full of energy presented to us by Véronique Nichanian for Hermès, in the outside court of the Cordeliers Convent. A wardrobe which gives us several creative pieces, mixing flowers with stripes, and highlights silk screened rose prints on tops in suede or mixes of silk twill and cotton-linen mixes (“métis” textures”).

The silhouette is soft and sophisticated made in radiant colours evoking the summer, sun and the seaside. The comfort of narrow or wide legged trousers with elasticated waists, or with contrasting turn ups, the t-shirts and jackets printed on one side or the hooded sweatshirts, jumpers with high necks and short sleeves, make up the elegant and nonchalant wardrobe in a discreet luxury. A reversible two buttoned jacket in cotton jacquard and mariner stripes or a jacket in striped snake skin proves yet again the level of quality of the materials and the artisanal savoir-faire of this house.

Véronique Nichanian Interview:
There are very tonic colours, I wanted this mix of energy, poetry, so the stripes and flowers are really this meeting of graphic lines and at the same time quite a poetic softness. The python skin cut in strips, striped and put together is quite exceptional so these are the exceptional pieces. We’re at Hermès, it was fun to play with the python skin in a sporty way with sweatshirts or striped bombers in also quite unexpected shades.

It’s a design called “in disorder” which we recut and appliquéd onto the cotton-linen mixes. So in quite unexpected colourings like the green or khaki or navy and black for the evening, we are really at Hermès, the mix of silk and skins.
