Raf Simons Menswear Spring/Summer 2016 - Paris

The ultra-loose trousers are paired with jackets or pea coats with studded diamonds or crosses. A fine knit jumper is worn cropped and ends in a patchwork of vintage fabrics, like last minute additions, with threads still hanging. These are the artisanal finishes which make all the difference. Unlike these several perfectly tailored black suits. All in question are proportions. The waist is made smaller whilst the trousers seems to grow, the coat becomes a tunic covering like armour, with graphic brush strokes, Adidas Stan Smiths don’t stray from the feet.
The silhouette like the attitude seems old fashioned, vintage and already in the future at the same time, a way for Raf Simons to allude to the past (grandfathers’ wardrobes?) and the young, on those energetic models, moving in a group. A reflected and felt parallel made with dynamism and grace by the Belgian designer who is also the artistic director of the Christian Dior house.
