Issey Miyake Interview Menswear Spring/Summer 2016 - Paris
For this new menswear collection, the young and talented Yusuke Takahashi transports us into an urban jungle, first of all by choosing the gardens of the Quai Branly Museum for his show, then by inviting the photographer Yoshinori Mizutani. His images mixing nature through photos of birds and yellow parrots from Tokyo, and the city and its buildings find themselves impeccably on the vibrant tones and washes of colours from this very urban collection.
Fluid jacquard suits, drop crotch bermuda shorts worn with a huge knit jumpers and jersey and poplin t-shirts on top, with quilted and pleated effects. The outfits belted in a kimono style in vibrant colours are another clin d’oeil to Tokyo and Mexico, two cities close to the designer who succeeds to reconcile nature and urbanism.
Yusuke Takahashi Interview:
I would like to show a simple, minimal, beautiful and street-style. I’m inspired by ? I like his vision of the everyday scenes in Toyko. So Toyko is a very big city, but there is a lot of nature and his vision of the line and the colour in Toyko landscapes, his vision is very strong and beautiful. In my opinion art and fashion are getting closer and closer together, of course it depends on the department of the art. Especially the photographs by Yoshinori Mizutani, so the photographs are a big contrast with the colour he used, so I used the simplicity from his photographs.
