Yohji Yamamoto Interview Menswear Spring/Summer 2016 - Paris

Several stories of suits at Yohji Yamamoto. The craziness and excitement in front of the showroom-atelier of Yohji Yamamoto where the show takes place each season demonstrates the effect that the Japanese designer still causes, after more than 30 years of design.

The same for his energetic and original latest show. The suit finds itself at the heart of the collection, and for summer it is offered in supple materials like cotton and linen, but also in fluidity with the loose trousers in drop crotch styles. Yamamoto doesn’t forget the colours by inviting the young painters to express themselves on several models, all whilst adding his personal touch, like the scribbled designs appearing on the last outfits. We see a singer and his guitar – a passion of Yohji’s – but also a man walking his dog – the designer admits that he has had a dog for two years and that it has completely changed his life…

Yohji Yamamoto Interview:
The temperature is very strange, the summer becomes too hot and the people die from the heat. So we are losing four seasons, now we only have winter and summer, I think it’s terrible. So for the summer collection I chose very light fabrics. About colors, I wanted to make a very exciting collaboration with a painter, a new young painter. I started living with my dog from two years ago, it’s so nice to walk in the morning together, that makes me healthy, lovely life.
